A Historic First Day as British School of Thessaloniki Opens Its Doors

Forfar Education is proud to mark a first for the group this week, as the British School of Thessaloniki (BST) welcomed its first pupils through the doors, becoming Thessaloniki’s first British primary school.

Behind the scenes at Forfar Education

Behind the scenes, Forfar Education’s executive leadership team has been ensuring the build project remained on track since construction began in spring 2026, working closely with the school to get the campus ready in time for its founding pupils. Group Director of Education Fiona Carter has led on the educational delivery of the school throughout, working with the leadership team on curriculum, staffing and day-to-day school life.

Fiona Carter, Group Director of Education, said: “Seeing BST open its doors to its founding pupils is a real moment for the whole Forfar Education family. We’ve worked hard to make sure the school is ready to deliver the same standard of education our pupils and families expect from us, right from day one.”

Founding Head Thomas Moudiotis said: “What began as a vision earlier this year has become a reality, and it has been wonderful to welcome our founding pupils and families.”

Deputy Head Faye Tsiamis added: “The children have arrived full of confidence, curiosity and excitement, and it has been wonderful to see them embrace their new surroundings.”

Inside the new campus

Over the summer, families visited the school to see the classrooms take shape, complete with furniture, IT systems, interactive whiteboards and learning resources. On opening day, pupils explored their new classrooms and met their teachers and classmates for the first time.
