Forfar Education Expands in Greece with Launch of the British School of Thessaloniki

Forfar Education has announced the launch of the British School of Thessaloniki (BST), set to open its doors to pupils in September 2026.

A New British International School in Thessaloniki

This development represents Forfar’s second major milestone in Greece in 2026, following its acquisition of Rodion Pedia School in Rhodes earlier in January. Together, these strategic moves underline the group’s long-term commitment to delivering high-quality British and international education to families across the country.

The British School of Thessaloniki will offer a British primary education with a strong international outlook. Designed for children aged 4+, the school will initially welcome pupils into Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Its curriculum will be aligned with English National Standards, combining academic excellence with a focus on character development, including resilience, curiosity and global awareness.

Acquisition of The Tree of Life Pre-School

In parallel with the launch, Forfar Education has acquired The Tree of Life Pre-School, a fully accredited British School Overseas (BSO) located in Eleones, Pylaia. The pre-school follows the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and will now provide families with a seamless pathway from early years education into primary schooling at BST.

A British Education with a Local Heart

As part of the Forfar Education group, pupils at BST will benefit from a wide range of international opportunities, including cultural trips, debating competitions, language immersion programmes and school exchanges across the UK, Spain, Portugal, Andorra and beyond.

A New Campus in Panorama, Thessaloniki

The school will be located in Panorama, a short distance from The Tree of Life Pre-School. Ahead of its opening, the campus will undergo extensive redevelopment to create a modern, high-quality learning environment. Planned facilities include bright and spacious classrooms, an indoor gym and dance studio, a performance space, and generous outdoor areas for sport and recreation. Future investment will further enhance the school’s offering, including the development of 11+ pathways, expanded sports facilities and a rooftop garden.

A Rich Curriculum and Extended School Day

BST will also offer a rich programme of academic enrichment, with language instruction in Greek, Hebrew and French, alongside a variety of extracurricular activities such as music, dance, arts and sports. An extended day provision will support working families, while pupils who are not yet fluent in English will benefit from intensive small-group language support.

High Demand for Founding Places in 2026

Mr Forsyth noted strong early interest in the new school:
“With the acquisition of The Tree of Life Pre-School, demand for founding places in September 2026 is already high. We expect that as news of the British School of Thessaloniki spreads, demand will only increase.
