Forfar Education Appoints Fiona Carter as Group Director of Education

Forfar Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Fiona Carter as its new Group Director of Education.

Fiona joins Forfar Education with more than 30 years of experience across the education sector, bringing extensive expertise in school improvement, curriculum development, international education, and strategic leadership.

Her appointment comes at an exciting stage in Forfar Education’s growth, as the group continues to expand its family of schools across the UK and internationally while remaining focused on delivering outstanding educational experiences for pupils.

Most recently, Fiona spent eight years with Wellington College International, initially serving as the organisation’s central office academic lead in China before progressing to the role of International Director, based in the UK. During this time, she played a key role in establishing high-performing K–12 bilingual schools, developing central support structures, and strengthening global partnerships across the Wellington network.

A Career Dedicated to Educational Excellence

Fiona began her career as a primary school teacher in Sheffield before moving to Germany to work within Forces Education. Returning to the UK, she held senior school improvement roles within local government, leading significant improvement programmes and contributing to the implementation of new curriculum and assessment frameworks at a national level.

She later joined Early Excellence, where she supported schools across the UK, Crown Dependencies and international markets, helping educators create the optimum conditions for learning during the early years and primary phases of education.

Throughout her career, Fiona has remained passionate about ensuring children thrive academically, socially and personally, while supporting schools to develop strong cultures of excellence and continuous improvement.

Supporting Schools Across the Forfar Group

As Group Director of Education, Fiona will work closely with school leaders across the Forfar Education family, providing strategic guidance, fostering collaboration, and helping to ensure that every school continues to flourish while retaining its unique identity and character.

Commenting on her appointment, Fiona said:
