Brackenfield School Hosts Inaugural Forfar Education Careers Fair

Brackenfield School recently hosted the inaugural Forfar Education Group Careers Fair, bringing together pupils from across the group in the largest gathering of Forfar pupils to date.

Children from Brackenfield School (Harrogate), Argyle House School (Sunderland), The Gleddings Preparatory School (Halifax) and Prenton Prep (The Wirral) attended the event, which featured six engaging presentations delivered by members of the Brackenfield parent body.

The careers seminars introduced pupils to a diverse range of professional pathways, including supercar financing, public service, legal practice, legal technology, media production and public relations. Each session was carefully tailored to primary-aged children, ensuring the content was interactive, accessible and inspiring. In addition to sharing insights into their professions, speakers highlighted the character attributes, skills and educational qualifications required to succeed in their respective fields.

Pupils heard from a barrister and judge, the founder of a public relations consultancy, a documentary and series producer and director, the CEO and co-founder of a finance company specialising in supercar funding, a civil servant from the Department of Health & Social Care, and a former lawyer now working in legal technology, including exploring how artificial intelligence can increase productivity and create efficiencies within the legal sector.

Mrs. Jo Storey, Country Director, UK, Forfar Education, said:

“Equipping our pupils across the group for the world that they will work in is fundamental to the Forfar approach to educating our pupils and students holistically. At the heart of Forfar Education’s philosophy is a belief in the benefits of shared learning and collaboration for our pupils and this event delivered exactly that. We are proud to have added a Careers Fair to the list of interschool events including, in just the past year, a Robotics Challenge and Art and Debating competitions.”

The event not only broadened pupils’ awareness of future career opportunities but also strengthened connections across the Forfar family of schools, with children collaborating and building friendships beyond their own campuses.

“Our grateful thanks to the parents that took time out of their busy and successful careers to deliver such interactive and informative sessions. The pupils were fascinated and inspired by the career paths they were introduced to. It was also great to see pupils from the different Forfar Schools intermingling and collaborating. As the first school to join the Forfar Education group, we are proud to have hosted the largest gathering of Forfar pupils to date!”

The Careers Fair marks another significant milestone in Forfar Education’s commitment to providing rich, collaborative learning experiences that prepare pupils not only academically, but for the world beyond the classroom.
