Forfar Schools Enjoy First Combined Overseas Ski Trip to Italy

Forfar Education is proud to celebrate the success of its first Forfar Education combined school ski trip to Italy, which brought together pupils from across its family of schools for an unforgettable week in Foppolo. The trip marked an important milestone for the group, uniting 85 pupils in a shared international experience that reflected both the strength of collaboration and the spirit of community across our schools.

Pupils from Finborough School in Suffolk, The Gleddings in Yorkshire and Cameron Vale School in London travelled together to the Italian Alps, where they stayed at the K2 Residence. Ranging in age from Year 5 (age 9) to Year 13 (age 19), the group experienced not only the challenge and exhilaration of skiing, but also the powerful sense of community that comes from being part of something bigger than their own individual schools.

The Benefits of Being Part of a Group of Schools

The trip was a powerful demonstration of the benefits of belonging to a group of schools. By joining together, the Forfar schools were able to offer an international experience to a larger and more diverse group of pupils than might otherwise have been possible. Older students naturally supported younger skiers, friendships formed across schools and year groups, and pupils returned home with broadened horizons and new connections that extend well beyond their own school environments.

85 Pupils: One Goal

Weeks of careful planning, cross-school staff collaboration and a shared commitment to pupil safety made the trip possible, reflecting the strength of leadership across the Forfar Education group. At the heart of the week, however, was the human element: pupils encouraging one another on the slopes, sharing meals together and building confidence and independence.

The enthusiasm following the trip has been overwhelming, with many pupils already keen to stay in touch and take part in future joint initiatives.
