Forfar Launches New Group Trips Programme to Broaden Horizons for Pupils

Forfar Education has launched an exciting new Group Trips Programme, giving pupils from across its family of schools the opportunity to learn, explore and build lasting friendships through a wide range of shared experiences.

The new programme forms part of the Forfar Distinctives, a group-wide commitment to developing character, delivering meaningful life-skills education and fostering a global mindset in every pupil. Open to children from schools across the group, the initiative aims to provide enriching experiences beyond the classroom that encourage independence, resilience and personal growth.

Building on the Success of the Foppolo Ski Trip

The programme builds on the success of this year’s inaugural group ski trip to Foppolo, Italy, which brought together pupils from Finborough School, The Gleddings and Cameron Vale School. The trip proved hugely popular with pupils and families alike, demonstrating the value of connecting young people from different schools through shared challenges and memorable experiences.

A Diverse Programme of Experiences for Every Age

The programme includes a diverse range of experiences for the 2026/27 academic year. Pupils will be able to choose from a range of outdoor adventures, including skiing in Andorra and Italy, surfing in Ericeira on Portugal’s Atlantic coast and a sailing and watersports residential in Poole Harbour. Cultural and academic experiences will take pupils to London, Edinburgh and Athens, where they will explore world-renowned historical landmarks, museums and cultural sites while developing independence, confidence and global awareness. The programme has been carefully designed to offer age-appropriate opportunities for children from Year 5 through to Sixth Form, ensuring that pupils at every stage can benefit from experiences beyond the classroom.

Investing in Exceptional Educational Travel

To support the programme’s growth and ensure the highest standards of delivery, Forfar has invested in dedicated expertise through the appointment of Robbie Waugh as Group Trips Manager and Rahala Begum as Group Trips Co-ordinator, who joins the group later this summer.

“Whether a pupil is learning to ski in the Alps, sailing on the south coast, surfing in Portugal or exploring the history of Athens, our ambition is the same: to provide experiences that develop confidence, resilience, independence and character. These opportunities help young people discover more about themselves while building friendships across our family of schools.”

Robbie Waugh brings extensive educational experience to the role, having enjoyed a successful teaching career, most recently at The British College of Andorra, one of Forfar’s schools.

These experiences challenge pupils in new ways, help them discover strengths they may not have realised they possessed and create memories that stay with them for years. I am excited to help build a programme that offers exceptional opportunities and becomes a valued part of the Forfar experience.”

The Group Trips Programme represents another step in Forfar Education’s commitment to providing pupils with distinctive opportunities that enrich their education, broaden their horizons and help them develop the confidence and character needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
