Forfar Hosts First International Early Years Conference

Forfar Education proudly hosted its inaugural International Early Years Conference, a vibrant gathering of inspiring insights, dynamic collaboration, and heartfelt reflection. The event took place at Finborough School in partnership with Norland College Consultancy and Training, bringing together passionate professionals from across the UK and Europe for a day and a half of discussion and exploration into what great leadership looks like in the Early Years.

The conference welcomed 28 Early Years leaders from 16 schools and nurseries across four countries, all united in their pursuit of excellence to shape the future of early childhood education. Attendees engaged looked at innovative educational methodologies, shared best practices, and reflected on how to provide exceptional care and holistic development for the youngest learners.

Lisa McDonald, Forfar’s Head of Early Years Education, highlighted the importance of collaboration, saying that,“This conference was about more than sharing ideas, it was about building a community of leaders who are committed to giving every child the very best start in life. The energy and passion in the room were truly inspiring.”

Shirley Offer, Deputy Head at Springmead School in Somerset, and a trained Norland Nanny, emphasised the value of professional dialogue and shared, “As someone who trained at Norland, I know firsthand the importance of high standards in early childhood care. Bringing together such a diverse group of Early Years specialists allowed us to challenge thinking, celebrate best practice, and reaffirm our shared commitment to nurturing confident, happy learners.”

Across the Forfar Education Group, demand for nursery places has reached unprecedented levels. In response, significant investments have been made to expand and enhance Early Years provision, including at Finborough School, ensuring that children as young as six months can experience the very best start to their educational journey.
