Prep School Stage Performances Shine Across Forfar Education

This summer term, prep school stage performances across the Forfar Education group wowed audiences as pupils from some of the group’s schools brought beloved stories and characters to life. These performances are not just a highlight in the school calendar; they are a testament to the creativity, confidence, and teamwork cultivated throughout the prep school years.

Spectacular Prep School Stage Performances

Each of our schools spent time preparing and producing their stage performances, thanks to the talent and dedication of the experienced teachers around the group.    

• Park School brought the beloved tale of Matilda to life, with pupils portraying the wit and wisdom of Roald Dahl’s iconic characters.
• St. Helen’s College transported audiences to the South Pacific with an energetic and heartfelt rendition of Moana, celebrating courage and self-discovery.
• Finborough School created a winter wonderland in their spectacular staging of Frozen, delighting the audience with memorable songs and snowflake-filled scenes.
• Brackenfield School’s infant pupils paid tribute to modern animated classics with The Pixar Way, an imaginative and original journey through favourite Pixar moments.
• Springmead School pupils in Years 5 and 6 thrilled families with the superhero antics of SuperStan, blending humour, action, and a strong message about doing the right thing.

Across the group, these productions were met with rapturous applause, not only for their entertainment value, but for the dedication and collaboration they showcased.

Why Stage Performances Matter in Prep School Education

Stage productions in Forfar schools are far more than just end-of-term fun.  They are a powerful educational tool that supports holistic development in children.  From the early rehearsals through to the final curtain call, pupils develop a wide range of skills:

• Confidence and Public Speaking: Standing on stage and projecting one’s voice to an audience is a significant accomplishment. Children learn to overcome nerves, express themselves clearly, and speak with purpose, which are skills that benefit them for the next stage of their education, and for life.
• Teamwork and Responsibility: Putting on a show is a collaborative effort. Whether learning lines, helping with sets, or supporting fellow performers backstage, pupils experience the rewards of working together toward a shared goal.
• Musical and Artistic Appreciation: Learning songs and musical cues supports rhythm, memory, and emotional expression.  The exposure to costume design, set construction, and lighting also encourages creativity and appreciation for the arts.
• Resilience and Achievement: Mastering a script or choreography takes perseverance.  Children experience the value of hard work and the joy of accomplishment when they see the audience’s reaction to their performance.

At Forfar Education, knowledgeable teaching staff nurture creativity, character, and confidence through opportunities like these.  Performances are scheduled throughout the academic year providing a great many opportunities for pupils of all ages and abilities to get involved, and we look forward to seeing more proud parents’ faces as the curtains lift again next year.
